This is where you can run a performance test on your drives to generate the data found in Drive Information. The other is that if your drive is overdue on firmware updates, a warning will appear here. One is that the volume information here allows you to see how fragmented your drive is. There are also two important extra pieces of information on the screen. The same information as above is found here, along with an AHCI mode activation indicator, the interface, and the serial number. This screen is an extended version of Drive information, where you can find more detailed data on the state and operation of your drives.

More than 300,000 Apple iPads were sold on launch day.81% of active Kindle Fire users also play mobile games.Research showed a total number of 17.4 million people in the US actively use the Kindle Fire. All Kindle Fire devices integrate with the Kindle Store content, with access to over 6 million eBooks available in the United States. The following is a side-by-side comparison of two models: the entry-level iPad and the middle-range Fire tablet. Prime Video, HBO, DAZN, Netflix, Hulu, and moreĪfter deciding which platform interests you most, choosing a specific model is a next step. The table below compares the general features of the Amazon Fire and Apple iPad ecosystems. On the other hand, if you’re looking for more features and a unique operating system, you should stick with the iPad. If you decide to stick with Amazon, the Fire tablet seems like the logical choice. The first thing to decide is which ecosystem you find more appealing. Picking up a specific tablet model in the first place is not the right approach. At the bottom, you will also find their latest models and brief descriptions. This comparison will help you navigate each tablet’s features, specifications, and capabilities to help you determine which one to invest in. However, if you’re looking for something more affordable to handle basic tasks such as reading eBooks and browsing the web, then Amazon’s Kindle Fire might be a better fit for your needs. These are two of the most popular tablets on the market, but which one is right for you? The answer depends on your needs and preferences.Īpple’s iPad may be your best option if you’re looking for a tablet that does everything from games to movies to books. The Amazon Fire HD 8 Plus lasts up to 12 hours on a full charge while the iPad (2019) lasts up to 10 hours. The battery life of both tablets is similar. The latter comes with a better camera, bigger screen, and better overall performance. At Cerro Armazones, near Paranal, we are building “the world’s biggest eye on the sky” - ESO’s Extremely Large Telescope. Together with international partners, ESO operates APEX and ALMA on Chajnantor, two facilities that observe the skies in the millimetre and submillimetre range. Also at Paranal ESO will host and operate the Cherenkov Telescope Array South, the world’s largest and most sensitive gamma-ray observatory. At Paranal, ESO operates the Very Large Telescope and its Very Large Telescope Interferometer, as well as two survey telescopes, VISTA working in the infrared and the visible-light VLT Survey Telescope. ESO operates three observing sites: La Silla, Paranal and Chajnantor. ESO’s headquarters and its visitor centre and planetarium, the ESO Supernova, are located close to Munich in Germany, while the Chilean Atacama Desert, a marvellous place with unique conditions to observe the sky, hosts our telescopes. Established as an intergovernmental organisation in 1962, today ESO is supported by 16 Member States (Austria, Belgium, the Czech Republic, Denmark, France, Finland, Germany, Ireland, Italy, the Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland and the United Kingdom), along with the host state of Chile and with Australia as a Strategic Partner. We design, build and operate world-class observatories on the ground - which astronomers use to tackle exciting questions and spread the fascination of astronomy - and promote international collaboration in astronomy. The European Southern Observatory (ESO) enables scientists worldwide to discover the secrets of the Universe for the benefit of all. The Joint ALMA Observatory (JAO) provides the unified leadership and management of the construction, commissioning and operation of ALMA. The Atacama Large Millimeter/submillimeter Array (ALMA), an international astronomy facility, is a partnership of ESO, the U.S. A black hole a thousand times smaller than another is also a thousand times less massive. Black holes are the only objects we know of where mass scales with size. ESO's facilities (including the Very Large Telescope and the Very Large Telescope Interferometer) and the Keck Observatory were used to carry out this research, which shared the 2020 Nobel Prize in Physics. Ghez (Professor in the Department of Physics and Astronomy at the University of California, Los Angeles, USA) were able to conclude that the most likely explanation for an object of this mass and density is a supermassive black hole. By measuring the orbits of several stars very close to our galactic centre over a period of 30 years, teams led by Reinhard Genzel (Director at the Max –Planck Institute for Extraterrestrial Physics in Garching near Munich, Germany) and Andrea M. Astronomers have known the bright, dense radio source at the centre of the Milky Way in the direction of the constellation Sagittarius since the 1970s. Especially for painting purposes vector layers are not suited, since your cannot mix colors on them. You are still going to need normal raster layers most likely for filling in lines and painting backgrounds. Then it might not work as intended on vector layers.Ĭombine their strengths with other types of layers. Unless you have a line art style that looks a bit sketchier or even paintery. Since it basically feels the same to draw lines compared to raster layers, there is not really a reason why you shouldn’t use vector layers. Instead of redrawing the lines if they don’t line up correctly, you can make slight adjustments with those tools to achieve your desired result much easier. Being precise is often very important, especially for small movements. Or consider the case when you make animations. You can use the Object tool and move the control points, or transform it without losing quality, or pinch it, or redraw parts of it. Need to change the shape? There are lots of different ways. Made the ends of your line too thick? Thin them down with the “Correct Line Width” tool.Īccidentally drew over another line? Just use the eraser with a vector setting to cleanly remove the overreaching part. There are so many benefits to using vector layers. Especially if you draw very distinct, clear lines. Vector layers are best used for drawing lines. Therefore you have a bit more precision if there are a lot of lines close together, compared to the “Correct Line Width” tool for example.Ħ – Advice for using vector layers and their tools If you encounter an intersection, then the overlapping line will not be affected. It does a little bit of smoothing, so that it transitions well into the rest of the line that you left untouched. So for example if you use “Cubic-Bezier”, then the Bezier lines for determining the curvature can be changed later on. And that setting is stored in the line information too if you use vector layers. Technically they are in the same category as the other shape tools, but I want to mention this separately, because they have “curve” settings. However, only the outlines of those shapes. Lines rectangles, polylines, ellipses, and so on. So your painter-y and watercolor-like looking brushes will probably not look quite right on vector layers.Īny shape tool works with vector layers. However, keep in mind that the brush settings “Color Mixing”, “Watercolor Edge” and “Anti-Overflow” are not compatible with vector layers. Pens, airbrushes, dashed lines, paint brushes, etc.Īny brush strokes you do get converted into vector lines. Yep, pretty much any brush works on vector layers. So, here is a list of the most essential tools that work with vector layers: And some features are vector layer exclusive. Not all tools and features that work on raster layers work on vector layers. So, if you have the option, I highly recommend drawing on vector layers from the very beginning if you want to have clean vector lines. You’ll most likely need to make some corrections if you do this. But honestly, this is far from being perfect. It also gives you some settings for how the lines should be generated. So it is also possible to convert raster layers to vector layers. You can also see that in that Covert Layer menu there is a “Vector Layer” option. Or click on “Convert Layer” and choose “Raster Layer”. Simply right-click on the vector layer and click on “Rasterize”. It is possible to convert vector layers to raster layers. However, with vector lines you don’t have to worry about that. Do this often enough, and you will lose quality. Rotating, skewing, mesh-transforming, … Any time you transform a pixel based image, you distort it in slight ways. It's limitless. This is not only useful in the case of up-scaling, but any kind of transformation. If you have multiple files open, you can drag them to any edge of your window and have them open side-by side. Unlike Photoshop, you can put clipping masks on folders, and also transform multiple layers at one time bound within the constraints of a selection. Anything can be converted into a screentone Brushes are super easy to install just drag them into the UI. Eyedropper is bound to right click for extremely easy color sampling The same works with the "Select another layer for reference" magic wand tool The "refer another layer" fill tool, which is great if you use lineart regularly but hate doing flats it has a close-gap in it, so even if it isn't a perfectly-closed area, it still fills (you'll still need to clean up tight spaces, though). Some honorable mentions, too, which are easy to figure out, but could be useful to people new to or looking into trying the program: Rarely in their entire history have the Chopin concertos received performances of a more teasing allure, brilliance and idiosyncrasy.īenjamin Grosvenor pf Royal Scottish National Orchestra / Elim Chan Argerich’s light burns brighter than ever. The recordings are impressively natural and if Dutoit occasionally seems awed if not cowed into anonymity by his soloist (the opening tuttis to the slow movements of both concertos are less memorable than they should be) he sets off Argerich’s charisma to an exceptional degree. Now, everything is accomplished without a care for studios and microphones, and with a degree of involvement that suggests an increase rather than a diminution of her love for these works. Indeed, her earlier performances are infinitely less witty, personal and eruptive, less inclined to explore, albeit with the most spontaneous caprice and insouciance, so many new facets, angles and possibilities. Here she revisits both concertos and offers an act of re-creative daring, of an alternating reverie and passion that flashes fire with a thousand different lights. Martha Argerich’s first commercially released recordings of the Chopin concertos were for DG No 1 in 1968, No 2 in 1978. Rev Up the Engine in the 2022 Ford Mustang ® LaPorte, IN, from Castle Ford of Michigan City If you need some Lie groups and algebras the book by Kirilov "An Introduction to Lie Groops and Lie Algebras" is nice for applications to geometry the best is Helgason's "Differential Geometry - Lie Groups and Symmetric Spaces".įOR TONS OF SOLVED PROBLEMS ON DIFFERENTIAL GEOMETRY the best book by far is the recent volume by Gadea/Muñoz - "Analysis and Algebra on Differentiable Manifolds: a workbook for students and teachers". A nice introduction for Symplectic Geometry is Cannas da Silva "Lectures on Symplectic Geometry" or Berndt's "An Introduction to Symplectic Geometry". For Riemannian Geometry I would recommend Jost's "Riemannian Geometry and Geometric Analysis" and Petersen's "Riemannian Geometry". In particular, Nicolaescu's is my favorite. Both are deep, readable, thorough and cover a lot of topics with a very modern style and notation. Lee "Manifolds and Differential Geometry" and Liviu Nicolaescu's "Geometry of Manifolds". Other nice classic texts are Kreyszig "Differential Geometry" and Struik's "Lectures on Classical Differential Geometry".įor modern differential geometry I cannot stress enough to study carefully the books of Jeffrey M. To really understand the classic and intuitive motivations for modern differential geometry you should master curves and surfaces from books like Toponogov's "Differential Geometry of Curves and Surfaces" and make the transition with Kühnel's "Differential Geometry - Curves, Surfaces, Manifolds". Graduate level standard references are Hatcher's "Algebraic Topology" and Bredon's "Topology and Geometry", tom Dieck's "Algebraic Topology" along with Bott/Tu "Differential Forms in Algebraic Topology." To start Algebraic Topology these two are of great help: Croom's "Basic Concepts of Algebraic Topology" and Sato/Hudson "Algebraic Topology an intuitive approach". Although it is always nice to have a working knowledge of general point set topology which you can quickly learn from Jänich's "Topology" and more rigorously with Runde's "A Taste of Topology". If you want to learn Differential Topology study these in this order: Milnor's "Topology from a Differentiable Viewpoint", Jänich/Bröcker's "Introduction to Differential Topology" and Madsen's "From Calculus to Cohomology". If you want to have an overall knowledge Physics-flavored the best books are Nakahara's "Geometry, Topology and Physics" and above all: Frankel's "The Geometry of Physics" (great book, but sometimes his notation can bug you a lot compared to standards). In particular the books I recommend below for differential topology and differential geometry I hope to fill in commentaries for each title as I have the time in the future. Suggestions about important theorems and concepts to learn, and book references, will be most helpful.ĪDDITION: I have compiled what I think is a definitive collection of listmanias at Amazon for a best selection of books an references, mostly in increasing order of difficulty, in almost any branch of geometry and topology. What are the most important and basic theorems here? Are there concise books which can teach me the stuff faster than the voluminous Spivak books?Īlso finally I want to read into some algebraic geometry and Hodge/Kähler stuff. What is a connection? Which notion should I use? I want to know about parallel transport and holonomy. For a start, for differential topology, I think I must read Stokes' theorem and de Rham theorem with complete proofs.ĭifferential geometry is a bit more difficult. Towards this purpose I want to know what are the most important basic theorems in differential geometry and differential topology. I must teach myself all the stuff by reading books. Unfortunately I cannot attend a course right now. I have decided to fix this lacuna once for all. I have a hazy notion of some stuff in differential geometry and a better, but still not quite rigorous understanding of basics of differential topology. The playable characters in Spelunky 2 are unlocked similar to the original game. If you saw a coffin with a skull, be sure to open it to save the hero locked inside. Her father is Spelunky from the original game, so she feels confident as she moves through strange locations filled with dangerous creatures. She is well prepared to travel through the dangerous jungle of Spelunky 2. How to get it : on the Black Market (secret location in the jungle) In Jungle 1-2, look for the coffin where Liz is hidden. Nekka pursues only one goal: to meet with the gods and ask them about the problems of the universe. To get to the Black Market, first find an item in the mines called Udjat Eye. Having picked it up, you will see the closed eyes icon that appears on the screen. As soon as you find yourself near the entrance to the Black Market, your eyes will open. The entrance can be located at levels 2-1, 2-2 and 2-3 in the Jungle. To get inside, you have to use a bomb or a hoe. Look for the coffin with Nekka inside. In Volcana you will face enemy robots, but please trust the friendly smile of the LISE Project. The prototype was created for research and data collection. He will reportedly connect with his creators 1000 years later. What a long work shift! Look for the coffin at level 2-1 Volcana.įashion icon, entrepreneur who created a successful brand. Coco is resting in the depths of the castle. Look for a coffin inside the castle. Always try and spot Monti when you know there's enemies with poison nearby.Manfred is eager to start his research. Look for the coffin in the indicated location, most often at level 3-1. Of course, this sounds easier said than done - depending on the run you're doing, maybe you just completely ignored the pug and went straight to find a secret or towards the exit, and getting poisoned in the midst of things can leave you off balance. All you have to do is take Monti to the exit, and she will cure your character in a whim. Pretty annoying, right? The foes that will inflict you this ailment are the Ghost Vases and the Witch Doctor, among others. From there, if you pick Monti and carry her to the exit, or use any other items that increase your HP, you won't get more hearts until you get rid of the course. Your health will be fine, but regardless of how many hearts you had, they will be reduced to just one. Enemies like the Witch Doctor, the Hermit Crab, and Pangxie can cause thisĪs for curse, well, it's a different punishment. Your character will lose one heart every 30 seconds, so depending on how many you have at that moment, things can go south really quickly. The first is rather common from other video games - if you get poisoned, the heart meter will turn green, as well as a visual representation on your character. These are poison and curse, especifically. There's many ways in which you can endure for a longer try, as we have outlined with our tips and tricks page, but there's a couple of debuffs that can cause significant damage to your character, and there's no easy way of knowing how to cure them. Enemies, traps, and especially physics will always do the most to interrupt your scavenges. In Spelunky 2, you can expect danger from pretty much every corner. |
